Really good full bodied wine, deep cranberry colored, and a long lasting finish. Review was done with the wine at room temperature after it had been opened for about 2 hours.
Aromatics: Black cherry, Blackberry, Spice (Nutmeg/Cinnamon), and Freshly turned soil. Aromas are strong and distinct. 12 out of 15 points for aroma.
Taste: Tart cherry, Black Raspberry, Dark chocolate, and a hint of Black pepper on the end. Flavors are deep and long lasting. 11 out of 15 points for taste.
Enjoyment: Strong, distinct aromas combined with the long lasting, prominent flavors that compliment each other. Decent acidity throughout and flavors that stick around for a good minute after swallowing make a very this a very pleasant drink. 17 out of 20 points for Overall Enjoyment.
My total score for this wine is 40 points out of a total of 50. It will pair very well with beef, lamb, and tomato based pasta dishes. I actually paired this with a Jalapeno and Blue Cheese Burger with a bit of Chipotle Mustard and it was able to make itself known even over the strong flavors of the burger.
